For this newly re-designed museum, CO Architects chose Newmat for the featured wall and ceiling in the Ottis Booth Pavilion. For the wall areas, six (6) NewLight micro-perforated membranes were installed, and for the ceiling area, six (6) more NewLight micro-perforated membranes were installed with a clear micro-perforated dust barrier membrane to protect the aesthetic longevity of the system. The Newmat membranes cover a field of LEDs and become not only a lighting diffuser but also an acoustical treatment.

This 4,000 square foot installation, with ever-changing lighting effects, becomes the perfect background for the suspended prehistoric skeleton, and while our modern technology seems incongruous with the exhibit, the overall look and feel of the space is captivating.  Watch the grand opening of the Otis Booth Pavillion below on YouTube.
